Privacy Policy
Last updated: November 5, 2026
This page explains what information is collected when you visit plainfieldcs.com and the other websites of the Plainfield Christian Science Church, Independent (the sites whose addresses end in plainfieldcs.com), and how that information is used. We do not sell, rent, or trade information about our visitors, and we do not show advertising.
What we do not collect
You do not need an account to read, listen to, or watch anything on our websites. Our pages have no sign-up or comment forms that send your name or email address to us.
Website statistics (Google Analytics)
We use Google Analytics to learn which pages are read, how visitors find our websites, and roughly where in the world they are, so that we can see what is helpful and report on our work to our church's board. Google Analytics uses cookies and collects information such as the pages you visit, the time spent on them, the website that referred you, your type of device and browser, and your approximate location (country and city). We see only totals and summaries, never the identity of an individual visitor.
Google processes this information under its own policies: see how Google uses information from sites that use its services and the Google Privacy Policy. You can stop Google Analytics from recording your visits with the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on, or by blocking cookies in your browser.
Server logs
Like nearly every website, the computers that host our sites keep standard logs of the requests they receive: the Internet (IP) address of the visitor, the date and time, the page or file requested, and the type of browser. These logs are used to keep the websites working and secure and to count visits. They are not used to identify visitors.
Your text size
If you change the text size on our pages, your choice is saved in your own browser so that the next page uses the same size. It is never sent to us.
Searching our websites
When you use the search on our websites, the words you search for are sent to our server to find matching pages. Some search pages also use search tools from Site Search 360 and Google, which receive the words you search for under their own privacy policies.
Videos, audio, and media
Our live services and recordings are shown through our streaming provider and through services such as Vimeo, YouTube, and SoundCloud. When you play or open them, those services may collect information and set cookies under their own privacy policies. Our audio, video, image, and PDF files are stored with Amazon Web Services and delivered from its servers.
Donations and our store
Donations and store purchases are processed by PayPal. PayPal shares with us the information needed to record your gift or send your order, such as your name, email address, mailing address, and the amount. We never see or store your card or bank details. PayPal's handling of your information is described in the PayPal Privacy Statement.
When you write or call us
If you email, call, or write to us, we use your name and contact details only to answer you and, if you ask, to send you our mailings. You can ask to be removed from any mailing list at any time.
Our use of Google user data
To prepare reports for our church's board, our church uses its own reporting tool with read-only access to Google's YouTube Analytics, YouTube Data, and Google Analytics services. The tool reads only statistics about our church's own YouTube channels and websites, such as numbers of views, hours watched, subscribers, and page visits, after a church administrator signs in and gives permission. It does not read any visitor's Google account or any other personal information. The numbers it reads are used only in our board reports; they are not sold, shared with others, or used for advertising. Our use of information received from Google APIs follows the Google API Services User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements. Permission can be withdrawn at any time in the Google Account permissions page.
Children
Our Sunday School pages are written for children and their families. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children, and our pages have no forms for them to fill in.
Changes to this policy
If we change how information is handled, we will update this page and the date at the top.
